Thank You
The 2007 UWA Perth International Arts Festival was one of the most spectacular and successful festivals’ in its 54-year history. With over 149 events, 864 performances and the highest box office ever, numerous shows sold out in record time including Wild Cursive, War Requiem, Circus Oz, Chamber Music, The Tallis Scholars, Al Gore, Gotan Project, Keating! and 13 nights at the Beck's Verandah.
We also bid a sad farewell to Artistic Director, Lindy Hume, who was the first female and first Australian to direct the Perth Festival in its history.
General Manager of the Perth Festival, Julian Donaldson said: "Lindy Hume's final Festival touched a chord in our community that resonated with delight whilst achieving just what an international arts festival should.
"Three weeks of the highest quality international and Australian art presented to an audience hungry for the new, the challenging and the charming."
Shelagh Magadza, the Perth Festival's Associate Director for the last four years, has already commenced her tenure as Artistic Director 2008-11.
"I'm delighted that the 2007 Festival has been such a success," she said.
"It reflects the hard work and professionalism of the entire Festival team and I am tremendously excited about commencing work with them on the next four year cycle."
