For over over fifty glorious Perth summers we've rounded up friends and family, packed a picnic with a bottle of wine, and headed outdoors to go to the movies.
Going to great international films at the Festival began with the Somerville's 'cathedral of pines' in 1950, joined by lakeside newcomer Joondalup Pines in 2000.
For four months from December to March this nightly feast of film is the most popular event in the Festival calendar, with over 80,000 attendances. And there's no wonder. The casual, laid back atmosphere fits perfectly after a long day in the office - or on the beach! And it's so much more than a night in the confines of a cinema - outdoor movies are a social occasion that can't be bettered!
This year, Lotterywest Festival Films brings you a season with a strong mix of romantic comedies, contemporary dramas and cutting edge documentaries. A line-up of first release films which include winners from Cannes, Berlin and Sundance Film Festivals.
